Maite Delteil
Maite Delteil is a French artist best-known for her figurative paintings depicting nature, people, and scenes from everyday life. Delteil studied art at Ecole des Beaux-Arts Academie de la Grand Chaumiere, Academie Julian, and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts from 1953 to 1959. In the following years, she received a fellowship from the Government and Institut de France to study in Spain and Greece, and was awarded the Prix De la Casa Velasquez in 1959.
Delteil’s works are renowned for their languid quality and old-world charm. Even though her subjects are seemingly simple landscapes and figures, they are used to explore and express the artist’s profound and personal thoughts.
